Media & licensing

Open imagery, with source traceability.

Collectible uses open-media sources to make vehicle research visual while preserving authorship, licence metadata and a clear correction path.

Legal documentationSource, research, privacy and platform governance

1. Approved sources

Automated vehicle-media discovery currently uses Wikimedia Commons and Openverse. Openverse is an index of openly licensed material from multiple providers. Its current source universe includes Flickr and the WordPress Photo Directory among many other repositories. The underlying work remains subject to its original licence and source terms; Openverse is used as a discovery layer rather than as a warranty of rights.

2. Licence gate

Collectible only auto-selects media whose machine-readable metadata indicates a licence intended to permit reuse for our use case. The automated resolver prioritises Public Domain/CC0, CC BY and CC BY-SA material and rejects known non-commercial, no-derivatives or unclear licence states from automatic publication.

Licence metadata supplied by third-party repositories can be incomplete or wrong. Automated matching is therefore not treated as a legal warranty. Admin users can replace, disable or correct any image.

3. Attribution

Where attribution is required, the vehicle detail page provides a credit line and a link to the source work or source record, together with the licence information available to Collectible. Compact catalog thumbnails intentionally omit overlay credits to preserve readability; the linked vehicle detail page carries the attribution associated with the displayed work.

4. Responsive presentation

Collectible may display an unmodified source image within responsive containers using browser layout techniques such as object-fit and responsive cropping. We do not claim ownership of the underlying third-party photograph. If a work is materially edited or redistributed as a derivative, applicable attribution and share-alike obligations must be observed.

5. Automated matching & model accuracy

Vehicle-image matching is automated and uses manufacturer, model, variant, body-style, generation, title, resolution and other signals. It can make mistakes, especially where closely related variants share names or where source metadata is weak. A photograph is illustrative and does not itself verify a vehicle specification, production number or market fact.

6. Other rights

An open copyright licence does not necessarily resolve trademark, personality, privacy, property, moral-rights or design-right issues. Collectible does not suggest that a photographer, manufacturer, owner, venue or person shown endorses the service.

7. Operator-owned photography

Collectible can also publish photographs uploaded by authorised Supercar Sharing Group administrators. These images are stored separately from open-media sources and are labelled as original or operator-provided photography. Administrators are responsible for uploading only material owned by the operator or otherwise licensed for the intended publication.

8. Creator & photographer contributions

Approved creators and photographers may maintain a Collectible contributor profile and submit original vehicle photography. Contributors choose the public credit name attached to their work. Submitted media remains private or pending until moderation is complete, and Collectible may approve, reject, hide, reorder or select approved media as a model page head image.

By submitting media, the contributor confirms that they own or control the rights required for the submission and grants Supercar Sharing AG a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, resize, crop for responsive presentation, cache, display and promote the submitted media within Collectible and associated Supercar Sharing Group communications relating to Collectible. Ownership remains with the contributor unless separately agreed in writing.

The contributor is responsible for obtaining any permissions reasonably required for identifiable persons, restricted venues, commissioned work, confidential vehicles or other third-party rights. A public creator credit does not imply employment, agency or endorsement.

9. Moderation, withdrawal & attribution corrections

Collectible may moderate or remove contributed media for quality, accuracy, rights, safety or editorial reasons. Contributors may request correction of their public credit or withdrawal of future display by contacting us. Removal requests do not affect copies that must temporarily remain in backups, legal records or prior lawful publications where retention is required.

10. Rights concerns & takedowns

If you are a rights holder or believe an attribution, licence or image association is incorrect, email office@supercarsharing.com with the Collectible page URL, the image/source URL and the nature of the concern. We can disable an image while the issue is reviewed.
